Our Travels (so far)

For us, travel has never been about checking places off a list — it’s been about immersing ourselves in new cultures and making the world feel like home. As the Berning family, we’ve spent nearly half of each year living abroad, choosing not just to visit countries but to live in them for months at a time.

Together, we’ve called Panama, Peru (twice), Switzerland, Spain, Kenya, and Brazil home — each place shaping us with its people, traditions, and way of life. We’ve also explored Colombia, Turkey, Israel, Canada, and more, learning to see the world through many different perspectives.

These experiences of living overseas have taught us resilience, adaptability, and the joy of stepping into the unfamiliar. They’ve given us a love for community, a respect for cultural heritage, and a desire to carry stories from one horizon to the next.

Now, as we prepare for the Riveted Horizons Caravan, our journey is expanding. While we haven’t yet camped in our Airstream, our years of global living have been the perfect preparation for what lies ahead: a caravan that doesn’t just pass through countries, but connects with them.
