Living History
We will be retracing the routes of Wally Byam’s earliest caravans, beginning with the 75th anniversary recreation of the 1951 journey to Central America.
Just as those pioneers ventured into unknown lands with their aluminum trailers in tow, we will attempt to revisit the same roads, towns, and campsites — experiencing them through the lens of history.
Our caravan won’t just tell stories of the past; it will bring them back to life in real time, letting supporters follow along as we honor a heritage that changed travel forever.
Daily Life on the Road
Life on the caravan will be equal parts ordinary and extraordinary.
Days will be filled with the rhythm of setting up camp, cooking meals, and sharing laughter around the fire. But these simple routines will unfold in the shadow of volcanoes, on the shores of foreign seas, and under skies crowded with stars unfamiliar to most of us.
We will share these moments with you through stories, photos, and behind-the-scenes videos, so even if you’re not traveling alongside us, you’ll feel like you’re parked right there.
